ABOUT ME
My name is Michelle Yi and I am a senior at Ambassador School of Global Leadership. I was born on November 7th, 2000 and was raised in Los Angeles, California. I am an energetic, friendly, and passionate individual who loves to dance, perform, cook, and read Fan-fiction novels or Romance novels. I love reading Fan-fiction novels and Romance novels because I am able to escape from reality through reading these genres. In addition, I love reading novels that are cheesy and cliche. Anything to do with someone falling in love or saving someone is my cup of tea. Enough said about me, now I will move on to my family. My family consists of my aunt, uncle, sister, cousins, and myself. For many years, I haven't been living with my parents and little brother that's why I live with my aunt and uncle's family. Not living with my parents in the past was a struggle to deal with however, right now I am happy and thankful for living with my aunt and uncle's family. There constant support and love for me is what makes me motivated to become a successful and better person.

PERSONAL
Before coming to ASGL I always had a hard time dealing with my self esteem. When one person said something as a joke or said it on purpose I would always let their words get to me. I had a hard time dealing with my self esteem even though it may not look like it on the outside, I had low self esteem. I would always try to look good for other people rather than myself. This is currently still an issue I face. But thanks to my family and friends encouraging words I was able to believe in myself a little more. As time passed I became more confident and happy with myself.

ACADEMIC
Education has always been a huge aspect of my life. When I'm in school I've always pushed myself to work harder and have always challenged myself by taking rigorous courses. I would always work hard to receive an A in my classes and anytime I would get a B I would strive to work harder than I have before. Whenever I didn't understand something I would always go to my teacher and ask questions and would try to come to tutoring if necessary. If I still didn't get a problem or understand something fully I would research on my own and look at videos and practice what I don't understand. As a student, I find it essential to know how to manage my time and to stay organized at all times. For me, I have always found planners very helpful because it has helped me keep track of my assignments and have helped me keep track of important events.

GLOBAL COMPETENCY
During my years at ASGL, I've learned to become a global leader in my school and my community. Since our school offers Model United Nations class, I had a great opportunity being apart of this class for two years. Being in this class benefited me in many ways because I was able to implement all my GPO's: Take Action, Investigate the World, Communicate Ideas, and lastly Recognize Perspectives. Specifically, this class has helped me tremendously on my public speaking skills and learning more about the different issues around the world. Through all the extensive research I did on different countries and topics I was able to learn more about what's going on in other parts of the world and was able to be aware of the organizations that help these countries. In addition, I learned more about what the United Nations does.
